A new takeaway spot dedicated to Chinese snacks has opened its doors on Jan Evertsenstraat in the De Baarsjes neighborhood. Called WT Express, the small venue operates as a quick-service offshoot of the neighboring restaurant WonTon Dumpling Club.

Located at Jan Evertsenstraat 9, the tiny space previously served as a coffee shop. It now functions as a dedicated kiosk for off-street ordering and takeaway, offering no indoor seating space for customers.

Buns, dumplings, and savory pancakes

The compact menu focuses on street food items designed for eating on the go. Options include four varieties of steamed dumplings, such as a vegetarian version filled with tofu, as well as chicken wontons served with custom sauces like pepper peanut oil or coriander hot and sour.

Visitors will also find a range of steamed buns with fillings that span from spicy beef to sweet custard and taro.

The kiosk also serves savory Chinese pancakes, including a version stuffed with Peking duck, alongside specialty house-made iced drinks such as lychee hibiscus and milky oolong vanilla tea.

Quick stop in Amsterdam West

Because space inside is strictly limited to the kitchen setup and steaming equipment, the operation relies on fast counter service. A single high table stands on the sidewalk directly outside for customers who prefer to eat immediately.

The venue is currently operating five days a week, welcoming hungry passersby from Wednesday through Sunday. The opening adds another quick option to the growing mix of informal food outlets across the western side of Amsterdam.
