A new entertainment venue called The Rage Room has opened in Amsterdam, offering visitors a dedicated space to demolish electronics, furniture, and glassware with baseball bats and sledgehammers.
Founder Zoltan Hajnal initially launched the concept in Eindhoven late last year after noticing that Dutch residents had to travel abroad to find similar spaces.
Following significant interest from travelers coming from the capital, the business decided to establish a permanent location in Amsterdam.
Smashing items and throwing axes
The Amsterdam facility includes eight smaller rooms designed for four to five people, two larger spaces accommodating up to ten participants, and several axe-throwing lanes.
Sessions typically run between an hour and an hour and a half, which includes safety gear fitting, operational instructions, and a brief cool-down period.
Entry packages start at 35 euros per person, providing a mix of smaller electronics like printers or laptops alongside furniture and crates of glass.
Visitors can also opt for upgraded packages featuring heavier items like televisions and microwaves, or bring their own items from home to break.
Customer demographics and recycling
According to the venue, approximately 90 percent of its customers are women looking for an outlet to release everyday tension or workplace stress.
The venue sees a wide range of reservations, from couples on first dates and students during exam season to corporate groups of up to 60 people.
To supply the rooms, the business purchases unsellable inventory and discarded items directly from local thrift stores.
Once items are destroyed, the shattered debris is separated and sent to waste management company Renewi for recycling.
