Opening July 4 and running through November, this new Allard Pierson exhibition dives into the theater collection’s most intriguing material: crossdressing on stage, the world of the Slingelandt theater, and the life of revue performer Louisette. Photographer Diana Blok contributes contemporary portraits of actors photographed in their dream roles of the opposite sex. On stage, nothing is quite what it seems.
