Met de Buurtcampus op voorleesreis, a read-aloud trip for children
A read-aloud session for children at OBA, the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam, run with the Buurtcampus. The title translates as a reading journey, and the idea is to take young listeners through stories read aloud in Dutch. Being read to helps children build vocabulary, listen with attention and come to love books well before they read on their own. The public library has long been at the centre of reading promotion in Amsterdam, with branches all over the city that offer free activities for families. It is a relaxed chance for children to enjoy stories together and for parents to discover what the library has to offer.
