Regional bus workers will strike for the whole day on Thursday 22 October, repeating the action they held on Wednesday 14 October.

The unions plan to hold a one-day strike every week until Christmas unless a new collective agreement is reached.

GVB is not taking part, but fewer buses will still run in Amsterdam Noord and Zuid.

Why Amsterdam buses are affected

Connexxion and EBS, which run the red R-net buses among other services, are joining the strike.

Their buses often leave from Central Station or Appeltjesmarkt for nearby municipalities such as Kudelstaart and Purmerend.

Along the way they stop frequently in the city, mainly in Noord and Zuid, so journeys within Amsterdam are affected too.

The strike follows stalled talks over a new agreement.

The unions want a 9.5% pay rise over two years, faster permanent contracts for drivers and a proper arrangement for older workers.
