A new exhibition opening July 4 at the Allard Pierson explores how the stage transforms identity through costumes, masks, roles, and sets — drawing on the museum’s rich theater collection. The show focuses on three stories: crossdressing in performance history, the Slingelandt theater, and revue performer Louisette. Contemporary photographer Diana Blok adds a fresh angle, capturing actors dressed in dream roles of the opposite sex. Runs through November 20.
