A newly completed Respighi cello concerto premieres at Muziekgebouw
Stephanie Childress conducts the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra alongside soloists Giovanni Sollima and Laura van der Heijden in a newly reconstructed Italian score alongside William Walton's concerto, bringing together recent historical work and established twentieth-century composition. The evening pairs a premiere with a known work, letting the new piece speak in the context of an established cello tradition. It's a concert built around the cello's range and the orchestra's ability to illuminate it.
