Eye(s) Open — New Perspectives on Colonial Film Heritage at EYE

EYE Film Museum is running a major exhibition through September 6 in which eleven contemporary artists respond to EYE’s collection of roughly 2,000 colonial-era films from Indonesia and Suriname. The artists created ten new works in dialogue with this archival material — a rare chance to see how filmmakers and visual artists grapple with found historical footage at one of Amsterdam’s landmark cultural venues.
