Jalen Ngonda brings his sweet, soaring falsetto and classic soul songwriting to one of Amsterdam's best-loved stages. Born in the United States and based in the UK since his student days in Liverpool, he signed to Daptone Records, the label known for keeping the sound of vintage soul alive. His debut album, Come Around and Love Me, won praise for its warmth and its clear debt to Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield and the Motown era. Heartfelt love songs, tight arrangements and a voice that can go from tender to fierce in a single line are what make his shows so memorable.
