Opening today at the Allard Pierson, this exhibition dives into the theatrical art of disguise — costumes, masks, crossdressing, and the magic of transformation on stage. Drawing from the museum’s theater collection (photos, audio recordings, set designs, costumes), it focuses on three fascinating subjects: crossdressing in theater, the Slingelandt theater, and the life of revue performer Louisette. Photographer Diana Blok contributes new portraits of actors dressed in their dream roles. Through November 20. Museum ticket price.
