Restored 4K screening of Jacques Tati classic Playtime at LAB111
The film follows the clumsy Monsieur Hulot as he navigates a disorienting landscape of glass, concrete, and open-plan offices. Director Jacques Tati constructed an entire replica city named Tativille, treating the modern environment itself as a central character to show people lost in a world of their own making. Shot in a widescreen 70mm format with a static camera, the visual composition captures the cold detachment of urban life while allowing audiences to choose where to direct their attention.
