Food delivery company Thuisbezorgd is expanding its quick-commerce offerings by partnering with local florists across the Netherlands. The platform now allows customers to order fresh flower arrangements and bouquets directly to their doorstep using its existing courier network.

The move marks another step in the platform’s strategy to move beyond restaurant takeout and grocery items.

By integrating local florists onto its app, the service aims to cater to last-minute gift buyers while providing brick-and-mortar flower shops with direct access to a broad digital customer base.

Expanding delivery beyond meals

Under the new arrangement, local florists prepare the orders directly at their shops, which are then picked up by couriers and delivered within a short timeframe. Participating florists retain control over their bouquet inventory and daily product offerings on the app.

The expansion reflects a growing trend among major logistics and delivery platforms looking to maximize their active courier networks during non-peak dining hours.

Thuisbezorgd has already been adding convenience stores, supermarkets, and specialty retail partners to its Dutch platform over recent years.

Support for local shops

For neighborhood flower sellers, joining a high-traffic app provides a modern digital storefront without requiring them to build out their own independent web shops or manage dedicated delivery drivers.

It allows independent retailers to compete more effectively with specialized online floral delivery services.

Customers can browse available arrangements from shops located in their immediate area directly within the existing application. The service is being rolled out progressively across major Dutch cities as more independent florists join the network.
