> The Noordermarkt by the Noorderkerk has traded since 1623. Monday and Saturday hours, what to buy and how to get there.

## What the Noordermarkt is

The Noordermarkt is the square in front of the Noorderkerk in the Jordaan, and there has been a market here since 1623.

It started with second-hand clothing, which you can still find, along with antiques and brocante.

Today there is more and more handmade work from traders of many backgrounds.

## Opening hours

The market’s own website gives two market days: Monday from 09:00 to 14:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 16:00.

It is also open on Easter Monday and Whit Monday.

## The Monday market

Monday morning is the time for treasure hunting: antiques and curiosities, books and prints, textiles, glass and china, vintage clothing and home goods.

If you get hungry, there are stalls with fresh juice and snacks such as Vietnamese spring rolls.

## The Saturday organic market

On Saturday mornings, from 09:00, local producers sell organic vegetables, fruit, bread, cheese, mushrooms, herbs, meat, fish, honey and flowers.

Next to the organic market is a second section with antiques and curiosities, plants, hats, prints, jewellery, toys, rugs, antique tiles, vintage clothing and bags made from recycled tent canvas.

## Where it is and how to get there

The square has no house number; it lies between the Lindengracht, the Prinsengracht and the Westerstraat.

The church’s address is Noordermarkt 48, 1015 NA Amsterdam.

From Centraal Station it is a walk of about 1.3 kilometres, or 18 minutes, via the Haarlemmerstraat.

Buses 18 and 21 leave from the IJ side of Centraal Station for Haarlemmerplein, from where it is about 15 minutes on foot.

## Tips for your visit

The market’s site suggests coming by bike with a basket or panniers if you can, so you have room for what you buy.

On Saturday the [Lindengracht market](https://essentiallyamsterdam.com/lindengracht-market-amsterdam/) runs right next door, and on Monday the [Westerstraat market](https://essentiallyamsterdam.com/westerstraat-market-amsterdam/) does.
