Roadworks on the connecting roads around the Coentunnel will lead to several weekend closures for drivers in August. The maintenance work involves replacing asphalt and joints on the busy slip roads linking the A8 and the A10 ring road.
The first disruption begins on Friday, August 14, at 21:00, lasting until Monday, August 17, at 05:00. During this window, the connecting curve leading from the A8 to the A10-Noord will be completely closed to traffic.
Rerouting options and further closures
Drivers heading in this direction can still travel through the Coentunnel itself. To access the A10-Noord, motorists are advised to continue to exit S101, where they can make a U-turn and loop back onto their intended route.
The exact same closure will repeat the following weekend, running from the evening of Friday, August 21, until the morning of Monday, August 24. During this second phase, the S118 entrance ramp from Verlengde Stellingweg toward the A10-Noord will also be shut down.
Final weekend detours
The final stage of the project takes place over the last weekend of August. From Friday evening through Monday, August 31, at 05:00, the ramp leading directly out of the Coentunnel toward the A10-Noord will be out of service.
Traffic leaving the tunnel during this period will be detoured along the A8 motorway instead. Drivers must continue up to exit 3 near Westzaan, turn around at the junction, and travel back to reach the northern section of the ring road.
These scheduled repairs align with broader national efforts to address deferred maintenance across key Dutch roadways, a topic high on the agenda for the Dutch infrastructure cabinet.
