The long-awaited video game set in historical Amsterdam, titled 1666: Amsterdam, will officially enter Early Access this summer. Development studio Panache Digital Games announced that the title will be available on PC starting August 25.

The game is led by Patrice Désilets, best known as the creative mind behind the early entries in the popular Assassin’s Creed series. It offers a dark action-adventure experience centered around the history and atmosphere of the Dutch capital during the Golden Age.

Exploring a historical fantasy city

In 1666: Amsterdam, players control a character named Noa, known as “the Collector.” The story revolves around using witchcraft and occult abilities to hunt down demonic entities called “Originals” that disguise themselves as ordinary humans.

The core narrative follows Noa’s journey as she takes on her new role and uncovers a secret plot taking place across 17th-century Amsterdam. The game design relies heavily on atmospheric world-building, referencing real historical setting elements alongside its supernatural storyline.

Availability on PC platforms

Players will be able to purchase the Early Access release through both Steam and the Epic Games Store when it launches. The studio has set the initial digital price tag at $29.99 USD.

Early Access launches allow studios to share playable builds of games with the public while continuing active development and gathering feedback before a final full release.
