Train traffic between Schiphol Airport and Diemen Zuid has been halted following a collision on the tracks.
No trains are expected to run on the route until 23:00 tonight.
Emergency services respond at RAI
The initial report of an incident on the tracks at Amsterdam RAI station came in just before 20:00.
Numerous emergency services responded to the scene, including a trauma helicopter.
Police confirmed that a person ended up on the tracks, though details on how it happened have not been released.
Advice for passengers
Travellers are advised to detour via Amsterdam Centraal, or via Bijlmer ArenA and Duivendrecht.
