Residents living near the Netflix office on Karperstraat have faced noise and disruption from a major interior renovation that began in February.
Work frequently starts around 06:00 as contractor vehicles arrive and sometimes continues late into the evening. Neighbors have also been unable to park cars or bicycles on the street for the past six months.
Resident Karin Sohngen said the situation has become mentally exhausting, while neighbor Georg reported chronic sleep loss and wears headphones at home to block out construction sound.
Talks and official complaints
A meeting between residents and Netflix representatives at nearby Café Bonnie failed to resolve the issues, with neighbors stating agreed measures were not followed.
Complaints have since been lodged with both the police and the municipality.
A spokesperson for Netflix said the company holds all required permits, maintains a dedicated contact point for neighbors, and has taken action on reported concerns.
Municipal inspections
Municipal officials have visited Karperstraat several times and raised neighbor concerns with Netflix, but noted that this has not led to a structural reduction in nuisance.
The city will now carry out more frequent inspections at the site and may issue financial penalties if conditions do not improve.
The renovation project is currently scheduled to continue until March 2027.
