Multiple Dutch supermarket chains have issued a product recall for ready-to-eat chicken thigh skewers due to food safety concerns.

The 100-gram packages contain chicken skewers that may not have been fully cooked during production, making them unsafe for direct consumption.

The Nederlandse Voedsel- en Warenautoriteit has advised consumers not to eat the product under any circumstances.

Affected stores and return details

The recall applies to packages with best-before dates ranging between August 19 and August 30.

Shoppers purchased the affected batches across several nationwide supermarket chains, including Dirk, DekaMarkt, Plus, Spar, Boni, Nettorama, and Poiesz.

Customers who bought the skewers can return them to their local store to receive a full refund.

Food safety precautions

Poultry products that are not thoroughly cooked pose health risks, particularly bacterial infections such as salmonella or campylobacter.

Anyone who has already consumed the skewers and begins experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms should get in touch with their doctor.
