Amsterdam-Barcelona ranked first in AirAdvisor’s 2026 Nervous Flyer Index, with a score of 75.1 out of 100. London Heathrow-Amsterdam came second, scoring 63.8.

On the Heathrow-Amsterdam route, 3.69% of flights were cancelled, the highest rate among the routes studied. The route also had delays of more than an hour on 3.63% of flights and delays exceeding three hours on 0.37%.
Amsterdam-Barcelona had delays of more than an hour on 7.02% of flights, delays exceeding three hours on 0.83%, and cancellations on 2.93%. The flight takes 130 minutes.
How the index was calculated
AirAdvisor examined 26 major European routes using data from September 2025 through August 2026. Cancellations made up 25% of each score, delays exceeding three hours 20%, delays exceeding one hour 15%, weather exposure at each airport 15% each, and flight duration 10%.
The index does not assess factors such as turbulence and does not mean the routes are less safe. AirAdvisor said the ranking is intended to show where delays, cancellations and other sources of uncertainty are more common.
