Budget rail operator GoVolta will begin selling domestic tickets within the Netherlands from Monday, September 28. Every domestic journey will cost a flat fare of €10.
When the carrier first registered its routes with the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets in 2023, it ruled out domestic ticket sales. On July 28, the company filed an update with the regulator to lift that rule and carry passengers between stops inside the country.
The change comes after early services on its Berlin route showed numerous empty seats between Dutch stations. Selling domestic journeys is intended to fill that spare capacity.
Routes and stops
Passengers will be able to book travel between Dutch stations including Amsterdam Centraal, Hilversum, Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Deventer, and Hengelo.
The operator has also filed for infrastructure access to launch further international services. Proposed routes include The Hague Central to Cologne, The Hague Central to Luxembourg and Strasbourg, and Amsterdam Central to Paris via the high-speed line.
Those additional services could launch on December 12, 2027, subject to approval. The company must still secure track capacity from rail network manager ProRail, which gives priority to domestic passenger trains when space is constrained.
