The Mama Louise foundation is looking for singers and musicians from Amsterdam Noord for its music programme Stemmen van de oogst.
Members make music, share meals, record and perform together.
Beginners are as welcome as experienced singers, and anyone who plays an instrument well can join the band and orchestra.
Rehearsals and recording
Rehearsals run on Thursday evenings from 29 October, partly with the Symfonisch Harmonieorkest Amsterdam.
Earlier this year, 38 neighbours wrote the song Adem Noord In with Mama Louise and Wat niet mag wijken, about special places in Noord that are under pressure.
The choir records it with the peace song Roya on 14 November, and a music video is being filmed.
Christmas in the Kromhouthal
The programme ends with a Christmas event in the Kromhouthal on Sunday 20 December from 14:00 to 20:00.
It features a neighbourhood sing-along with the orchestra, the premiere of the music video and a Christmas market with partners from the Hamerkwartier.
An information evening is on Thursday 22 October from 20:00 to 21:30 at BuurtStudio A Lab, Overhoeksplein 2, and you can sign up at mamalouise.nl/stemmen.
If you fancy singing too, here are more choirs and drop-in nights around the city that welcome newcomers.
