World Cup Hockey Tournament Begins in Amsterdamse Bos

The field hockey World Cup has officially started, with the Netherlands and Belgium acting as co-hosts.

For the next two weeks, the Wagener Stadion in the Amsterdamse Bos will serve as the Dutch match venue.

The tournament opened at 10:00 with a match between the women’s teams of Australia and Japan.

Fans Fill the Stands

Supporters arrived early in the morning, wearing Dutch orange and Australian yellow to watch the opening matches.

The Dutch women’s team played their opening game later in the afternoon at 16:00, securing a 2-0 victory against Chile.

Tournament director Victor Brouwer noted that the morning crowds were strong, with many young fans turning out to watch their role models.

Upcoming Matches and Finals

The Dutch men’s team is scheduled to play New Zealand tomorrow at 16:00 as pool play continues.

While the men’s final will take place in Belgium, the women’s final will be held in the Netherlands on Saturday, 29 August.
