The Netherlands is getting unusually warm weather for the end of September. Weeronline expects 25 degrees Celsius across much of the country on Tuesday 29 September, with local highs of up to 30 degrees.
The heat should last into Wednesday 30 September, when showers and possibly thunderstorms will clear it out.
The warm spell began on Monday 28 September. The country woke up to around 22 degrees that morning, and parts of Limburg were forecast to reach 25.
Heat like this is rare so late in the year. De Bilt, where the national measurements are taken, has never recorded 25 degrees in the last days of September, so several weather records could fall.
Rain and cooler weather from Thursday
Showers are expected to move in from the west on Wednesday evening and push the hot air out, and thunderstorms are possible overnight. After that, the weather service expects mild weather for the rest of the week, with highs of around 20 degrees.
Thursday 1 October is set to be the wettest and cloudiest day.
