Coffee & Kids on IJburg has launched Cowork & Nanny, which combines a workspace with child care for parents of young children.
A childcare worker looks after the children in the room next door, and meanwhile parents can work on a laptop, have a coffee or simply take a break.
The children play and join in activities, so their parents are never far away.
A small-scale space for local families
Raquel Feliu of Coffee & Kids says the idea came from parents who wanted somewhere to concentrate for a few hours without booking a full day of child care.
Instead of large groups and busy rooms, Coffee & Kids has chosen a small, quiet and almost homelike setting where each child gets plenty of attention.
When the weather is good, the children also go outside, Feliu says.
The initiative is aimed mainly at families living nearby in IJburg, so parents do not have to travel across the city to combine work and child care.
