De Boelelaan in Amsterdam-Zuid will be partly closed from Monday 2 November until the end of May while the stretch between Parnassusweg and Beethovenstraat is redesigned.
The carriageway and cycle path will be shut, but the parallel service road stays open to all traffic.
The street will get a 30 km/h layout and safer crossings, so five trees will be felled and two moved, with new ones planted.
Travel during the closure
Cars heading south will be diverted via Buitenveldertselaan on the west side and Van Leijenberghlaan on the east side towards Van Nijenrodeweg.
Cyclists can detour via Gustav Mahlerlaan, and pedestrians can use the pavement along the service road and cross at Lex van Deldenbrug.
Homes on this stretch stay reachable for emergency services, and underground waste containers are moving to Groningenstraat.
The work will be noisy, and Waternet is also doing sewer work in nearby Asingaborg from 2 November to the end of January, with pumps running and some parking closed.
The service road will follow, with residents able to give input in early 2027 and work expected in early 2028.
If the detour affects your drive, here is how driving and parking work around the city.
