ADE draws an international crowd to Amsterdam to party, but some fans also come to learn the craft at the DJ School in Oost.
Olivier Meijs founded the school in 2008 and for 18 years has helped students grow in the music they want to play, whatever their ambitions.
Some want to mix records at home, while others hope to make DJing their job.
Students make their ADE debuts
Richel, who plays house and is trying to blend it with techno, arrived with no experience and learned the basics of the equipment, music and genres.
On Friday 23 October she makes her debut at a DJ School party at The Fifth in Oost, giving students a first chance to perform during ADE.
Justin travelled from Calgary, Canada, to learn to DJ and attend ADE, and says the city’s training and venues form a connected scene that Canada lacks.
Meijs says Amsterdam leads the way, with visitors sometimes arriving with styles that were big in the city five years ago.
If the ADE crowds have you keen to hear the dance scene at its best, start with the city’s best clubs right now.
