The best clubs in Amsterdam right now are Shelter, Warehouse Elementenstraat and Panama for techno and house, RADION, Club RAUM and Lofi for the newer warehouse scene, and Club NYX for a big, mixed night out in the centre.
Here is the shortlist by kind of night, plus where each club is.
Amsterdam’s club scene runs from converted factories to a former cinema, and no two nights look alike.
Here’s an honest shortlist, grouped by what kind of night you’re after.
For techno and house diehards
Shelter, in the basement of the A’DAM Toren at Overhoeksplein 3, puts the music first.
It suits both longtime fans of Amsterdam’s dance scene and anyone showing up for the first time.
Panama occupies a historic building on the Oostelijke Handelskade at number 4, in the Eastern Docklands.
Its club nights lean techno and house, with a mix of rising local talent and DJs from further afield.
Warehouse Elementenstraat, at Elementenstraat 25, started life as a nut factory and grew out of Amsterdam’s early illegal gabber raves.
It now has the feel of an indoor festival as much as a nightclub.
The newer generation
Club RAUM, at Humberweg 3, is queer-run and built around community as much as the music.
The lineup mixes emerging names with established ones, and the crowd comes as much to connect as to dance.
RADION, on Louwesweg 1, took over a former dental building and now hosts weekend parties that run until sunrise.
Outside club nights, the space also runs theater, dance, debates and film screenings, and its regular party partners keep the lineup consistent.
Lofi Amsterdam, at Basisweg 63, is a former GVB bus garage turned multidisciplinary venue.
Expect anything from warehouse raves to smaller community gatherings, with an outdoor area open in summer.
Open to everyone, three floors deep
Club NYX, at Reguliersdwarsstraat 42, spreads across three floors and welcomes visitors regardless of who they’re into.
Saturdays run as “Saturgay,” and the music policy shifts often enough that it’s worth checking the lineup before heading over.
Dinner, theater and a dance floor after
Supper Club, at Singel 460, is a longtime Amsterdam fixture where dinner and theatrical performances come first and the room turns into a dance floor once the plates clear.
Expect house, disco and other electronic sounds once the DJs take over.
Doka sits in the basement under the Volkshotel at Wibautstraat 150.
It’s small, but it has built a serious reputation by booking carefully chosen DJs and collectives over big names, moving through house, disco, soul and jazz on a sound system regulars rate among the city’s best.
Sissi’s, in a former cinema at Anthony Fokkerweg 3, mixes club nights with live performances and other cultural events.
It draws a crowd that wants more variety than a straight techno or house night offers.
Parallel, at Buiksloterweg 5C, covers the genres Paradiso’s concert stage doesn’t reach, including R&B and hip-hop alongside electronic music.
If Paradiso is the city’s live-music home, Parallel plays a similar role after dark; anyone building a wider night around live acts first can check the best live music venues in Amsterdam before heading to a club.
Where the Clubs Are: Amsterdam Nightlife by Area
Amsterdam’s serious clubs are mostly outside the canal ring, in former factories, garages and docks.
The centre has the bigger, louder, more mainstream rooms: our Rembrandtplein guide covers the clubs on that square, from Escape to Club Smokey.
| Area | Clubs | Getting there |
|---|---|---|
| Noord | Shelter (Overhoeksplein 3, under the A’DAM Toren), Parallel (Buiksloterweg 5C) | Free ferry from behind Centraal |
| Eastern Docklands and Oost | Panama (Oostelijke Handelskade 4), Doka (Wibautstraat 150, under the Volkshotel) | Tram along the IJ or metro to Wibautstraat |
| West and Westpoort | Warehouse Elementenstraat (Elementenstraat 25), Club RAUM (Humberweg 3), Lofi (Basisweg 63), Sissi’s (Anthony Fokkerweg 3) | Mostly industrial areas; plan the ride home |
| Nieuw-West | RADION (Louwesweg 1) | Near Lelylaan station |
| Centre | Club NYX (Reguliersdwarsstraat 42), Supper (Singel 460), and the mainstream clubs on and around Rembrandtplein | Walkable from most central hotels |
Amsterdam clubs by music and crowd
The same club can host a techno night on Friday and a disco night on Saturday, so treat this as a rough map.
Every club here was checked on its own site on 29 October 2026.
Techno
- RADION (Louwesweg 1, Nieuw-West): techno, with room for emerging artists and experimental nights. Friday and Saturday, 23:00 to 07:00.

- Garage Noord (Gedempt Hamerkanaal 40, Noord): club nights usually run from 23:30 to 07:00.

- Melkweg runs Techno Tuesday, with free entry until the room is full.
House and disco
- Shelter (under the A’DAM Toren): from minimal house to trance, afro house and Italo disco, on a Funktion-One sound system.
- Doka (under the Volkshotel): in the basement, booking young talent next to established names.

- Sissi’s (Anthony Fokkerweg 3): hosted club nights, with cheap tickets for anyone in before 23:00.
Hip-hop, R&B and Afro
- Chin Chin Club (Rozengracht 133, Jordaan): R&B, hip-hop, house and disco, with a dinner show before the club opens.
- Bitterzoet (Spuistraat 2): hip-hop, R&B and throwback nights, plus Afro, Amapiano and Caribbean at The Groupchat, and After Seven for the over-30s.
- Paradiso runs Afrobeats, Amapiano and dancehall nights at Parallel in Noord.
- Melkweg has Sumibu for hip-hop and Fiesta Macumba for Latin.
Dressed-up clubs in the centre
- Jimmy Woo (Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 18): aimed at young professionals, dress to impress.
- The Tequila Club (Korte Leidsedwarsstraat 28): a cocktail lounge that runs until 05:00 at the weekend, 21 and over.
- Escape (Rembrandtplein 11) and Club Prime (Rembrandtplein 22): the big themed nights on the square, open every night.
LGBTQ+
- Club RAUM (Humberweg 3): a queer-run cultural space that grew out of the SPIELRAUM parties. 21 and over, groups of three at most.
- Club NYX (Reguliersdwarsstraat 42): an open-minded club that welcomes everybody, on a VOID sound system. Thursdays and Sundays are door sale only.
- Melkweg hosts queer nights too, such as Pon Di Pride and the Eastern European Queer Night.
Student and budget nights
- Melkweg’s Techno Tuesday is free.
- Doka has nights from EUR 5, and most are under EUR 15.
- Sissi’s sells EUR 7.50 tickets for entry before 23:00.
- Escape’s midweek RMX night is EUR 10 in presale.
- Most Bitterzoet club nights are EUR 10.
Live music venues with club nights
Paradiso (Weteringschans 6-8), Melkweg (entrances on the Lijnbaansgracht) and Bitterzoet are concert venues first.
After the bands finish, they turn into clubs.
Paradiso’s club nights are 18+ and run until 04:00 or 05:00.
Our live music venues guide covers the concert side.
How often each club is on: our count
How many nights a week is a club actually open for a party?
We counted the club nights listed in our What’s On calendar over eight weeks, 1 September to 26 October 2026.
A club night here means an event we file as electronic, nightlife or hip-hop.
In those eight weeks the calendar listed 2,069 such nights across 413 venues, including Amsterdam Dance Event week.
| Club | Nights listed (8 weeks) | Per week |
|---|---|---|
| Club Prime | 33 | 4.1 |
| Club John Doe | 32 | 4.0 |
| Escape | 31 | 3.9 |
| Melkweg | 25 | 3.1 |
| The Tequila Club | 21 | 2.6 |
| Paradiso | 15 | 1.9 |
| Shelter | 13 | 1.6 |
| RADION | 13 | 1.6 |
| Jimmy Woo | 13 | 1.6 |
| Chin Chin Club | 13 | 1.6 |
| SUPPER | 12 | 1.5 |
| Doka | 12 | 1.5 |
| Garage Noord | 12 | 1.5 |
| Sissi’s | 11 | 1.4 |
| Bitterzoet | 11 | 1.4 |
| Lofi | 9 | 1.1 |
| Club RAUM | 9 | 1.1 |
| Parallel | 7 | 0.9 |
The clubs on Rembrandtplein are open most nights of the week.
The clubs people travel for (Shelter, RADION, Lofi, Club RAUM, Doka, Garage Noord, Sissi’s) open once or twice a week, and about three in four of their nights in our count fell on a Friday or Saturday.
Club NYX and Warehouse Elementenstraat publish few dates in advance, so they barely appear in our count; check their own channels.
Door policy, dress code and ID
Clubs here do turn people away.
This is what they say themselves:
- Bring a physical ID. RADION, Jimmy Woo and The Tequila Club say photos and copies are not accepted. Club John Doe asks for photo ID if there is doubt about your age, and Paradiso says “No ID, no entrance” for its age-limited nights.
- 18 is the usual minimum, 21 is common. Club RAUM and The Tequila Club are 21 and over. Some RADION events are 21+. Escape is 21+ on Friday and Saturday. Chin Chin Club is 18+ on Thursday, 20+ on Friday and 21+ on Saturday.
- No sportswear in the centre. Escape, Chin Chin Club, Jimmy Woo, The Tequila Club and Club John Doe all refuse sportswear. Chin Chin also bans caps, shorts and shoulder bags, “including designer brands”.
- Dress down at the techno clubs. Shelter asks you to come “dressed to dance”: no tracksuits, sports shirts or open shoes, but also no suits or white shirts. Club RAUM wants closed shoes and no suits.
- Phones away. At Shelter, using your phone on the dance floor can get you removed. Club RAUM puts stickers over phone cameras, and RADION does not tolerate filming people on the dance floor without consent.
- Small groups. Club RAUM admits groups of three at most. Escape may refuse groups bigger than four, and Club John Doe turns away large groups and bachelor parties.
- A ticket is not a guarantee. RADION says so in as many words; Doka warns that its capacity is limited.

Most clubs open at 23:00.
Closing times, as the clubs give them:
- RADION, Garage Noord and Club John Doe (Friday and Saturday): until 07:00.
- Shelter: 23:00 until at least 06:00, with the doors closing at 04:00. Doka runs until 06:00, and Lofi nights end at 06:00 or 08:00.

The City of Amsterdam’s new nightlife rules allow venues zoned as nightclubs to apply for custom longer hours from 14 October 2026.
Getting home
Trams and metros stop for the night, so plan the ride home before you go, especially from the industrial areas in West and Noord.
- GVB night buses. The N lines (N81 to N93) take over at night, with stops at Centraal, Leidseplein, Rembrandtplein, Sloterdijk and Bijlmer ArenA. A GVB night bus ticket costs EUR 5.70 in 2026 and covers all GVB night buses for 1.5 hours; you can check in with your bank card or phone (OVpay). GVB day tickets cover the night buses too. Check the route on 9292 before you leave the club.
- The free ferry to Noord. The F3 between Centraal and Buiksloterweg runs day and night, which is the way home from Shelter, Parallel and the rest of Noord. All the IJ ferries are free.
- NS night trains. Every night, a train runs roughly every hour from Amsterdam Centraal to Utrecht, and the other way via Schiphol, Leiden and The Hague to Rotterdam. A night train ticket costs the same as by day.
- Taxis. Licensed Amsterdam taxis have a blue number plate, a roof light with the company name and taxi number, a meter and a visible driver permit. Take one from an official taxi rank, or stop one in the street only if it carries the TaXXXi roof light, says the City of Amsterdam.
Planning the night
Lineups at every venue above change week to week, so check each club’s own site or socials before committing to a night.
