Cafe Voorbeeld is a neighbourhood cafe on a quiet corner of the Jordaan, open since 2016. Mornings start with coffee roasted in Amsterdam Noord and bread from the bakery two doors down.
On the menu
Lunch is soups, salads and toasted sandwiches, made to order. On Friday and Saturday evenings the kitchen stays open for small plates and natural wine. See what is new this autumn.
On Sundays there is live jazz with brunch, from 11:00 to 14:00. More about the jazz brunch.
Private events
The back room seats 24 and can be booked for birthdays, team lunches and book clubs. Ask about a date.

Owner and head barista
Lotte opened Cafe Voorbeeld in 2016 after ten years behind espresso bars in Amsterdam. She picks every coffee herself with the roaster in Amsterdam Noord.

The autumn menu is here
AMSTERDAM, 1 October 2026 · From 1 October, Cafe Voorbeeld in the Jordaan serves pumpkin soup, a new mushroom toastie and hot apple cider.
"Autumn is when people come in from the cold and stay a little longer," says owner Lotte. "This menu is made for exactly that."
The autumn dishes are served at lunch from Tuesday to Sunday, next to the regular soups, salads and toasties. Vegan and gluten-free options are marked on the menu.
