Monday morning rain showers are giving way to clear skies, marking the start of a brief stretch of warm summer weather across the Netherlands.
By Tuesday, temperatures will begin to rise significantly across coastal and inland regions as southwesterly winds bring warmer air into the country.
Tropical temperatures expected mid-week
Wednesday is set to be the hottest day of the week, with temperatures reaching up to 32 degrees Celsius in Amsterdam.
Further inland, temperatures could climb even higher, reaching between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.
The hot conditions are expected to affect everyday routines in the city, from increased crowds in local parks to higher energy demand.
Uncertainty for the weekend forecast
Forecasters from Weeronline note that the weather outlook from Thursday onward remains uncertain due to shifting wind directions.
If a cooler westerly breeze develops early in the day, temperatures in coastal areas may drop back down to around 25 degrees Celsius.
However, if that wind shift is delayed, Amsterdam could experience another day above 30 degrees Celsius before cooler weather returns.
Residents planning outdoor activities or commuting across the city via GVB public transport are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions during peak afternoon heat.
