Unusually high temperatures are forecast across the Netherlands this week, with highs reaching between 25 and 28 degrees in many areas.
The conditions could break several heat records, according to weather service Weeronline.
Warm start to the week
Monday will bring highs of up to 25 degrees in Limburg, while Utrecht and Enschede see between 21 and 24 degrees.
The west and north of the country will stay cooler on Monday, with temperatures between 19 and 20 degrees alongside light rain and cloud cover.
Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be warmer nationwide, with readings above 25 degrees in large areas and local peaks near 30 degrees.
Late September typically averages around 17 degrees. De Bilt, where national weather records are tracked, has never recorded 25 degrees during the final days of September.
Midweek rain and cooler days
The weather will shift on Wednesday evening as showers move in from the west, potentially bringing thunderstorms.
Temperatures will fall back toward 20 degrees for the remainder of the week under mixed sunshine and cloud cover.
Thursday is expected to be the wettest and cloudiest day of the week.
