The Falcon Leap military training exercises have started across the Netherlands, running through 18 September. Air force and army personnel from 11 countries will practice air-dropping cargo and deploying paratroopers from planes.
The aircraft operate out of Eindhoven Air Base and will fly at low altitudes across large parts of the country. Flights are scheduled in two daily blocks, between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. and between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with no exercises occurring after 11:00 p.m.
Multinational transport fleet
Participating nations include the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Sweden.
Transports in use include the German A-400M, Romanian C-27J, Polish and Spanish C-295M, Portugal’s new KC-390M, and C-130 Hercules aircraft from several nations.
Exact times and drop zone locations are kept private to protect spectators and military personnel during heavy equipment drops. The exercise concludes on Saturday, 19 September, with the annual Operation Market Garden commemoration at Ginkelse Heide near Ede.
