Batavia replica leaves Amsterdam, probably for the last time: The reconstruction of the historic VOC ship left Amsterdam on 1 October after two weeks at the NDSM wharf. Back in Lelystad it will be moved onto land at Museum Batavialand.
Halsema: tourist numbers must be curbed, even if hospitality loses customers: Mayor Halsema says annual visitor numbers must be curbed even if hospitality businesses lose customers. Without action, the yearly total is expected to rise from about 23 million to 30 million.
Amsterdam firefighters set off to climb Kilimanjaro for their mental health: A group of Amsterdam firefighters and colleagues starts a climb of the nearly 6,000-metre Tanzanian mountain on Saturday. The trip is meant to help them process the trauma that builds up on the job.
Dutch study finds browser tricks do not cut fares: Clearing cookies, using incognito mode or switching devices does not affect flight prices, according to the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets. Its study found fares can change dozens of times before departure and calls for greater algorithm transparency.
Undercover actor Frank Lammers and wife Eva Posthuma de Boer to open café on Linnaeuskade: Frank Lammers and Eva Posthuma de Boer are opening Volkscafé REVE on the Linnaeuskade this month. The couple runs it under an agreement with brewer Royal Swinkels.
NH looks back on 150 years of the Noordzeekanaal in a TV series: NH is revisiting the waterway’s history in a three-part television series. Its opening in 1876 helped create a fishing harbor and the new settlement of IJmuiden.
