Oost is getting a new neighbourhood café in October.
Actor Frank Lammers and his wife, the writer Eva Posthuma de Boer, are opening Volkscafé REVE at Linnaeuskade 1H in the Watergraafsmeer, close to the Middenweg.
The café takes over the space that used to be bar Wisse.
Next to it is a building that has stood empty for a long time, where Kediri sold Indonesian meals for years.
A brewer behind the plan
Noud Swinkels of the brewer Royal Swinkels recently revealed that the couple are behind the café.
The brewer has signed a partnership agreement with them, and REVE will serve Swinckels beer.
Swinkels said the café should be a place where ‘hospitality, cosiness and a good pils come together’.
The company behind REVE was registered with the Chamber of Commerce on 28 August 2026, and the official opening is planned for October.
The couple and the location
Lammers is best known for playing Ferry Bouman in Undercover and in the films and series about the character that followed.
Posthuma de Boer is a writer and columnist who has published several novels and cookbooks.
The Linnaeuskade runs along the Ringvaart, and the business is registered in the Linnaeusparkbuurt, part of Middenmeer.
Few details about the concept or the opening programme have been made public so far.
The name Volkscafé suggests the couple want an easygoing local where anyone can drop in.
