Neighbourhood farm Ons Genoegen leaves Marineterrein and reopens in Westerpark on 1 November

Ons Genoegen, the neighbourhood farm run as a social project by the Regenboog Groep, closed its doors on the Marineterrein in mid-September.

It is going back to its old home in Westerpark, where the building has been repaired, and will reopen there on 1 November.

The farm moved to the Marineterrein at the end of 2024, after a fire destroyed its building in Westerpark.

As well as its permanent staff, it relied on many volunteers and on people who find it hard to get work.

Visitors could get cheap coffee there, and Stadspas holders could get meals at a discount.

Temporary permit not extended

The farm would have liked to stay on the Marineterrein, but its temporary permit ran out.

The Central Government Real Estate Agency (Rijksvastgoedbedrijf), which owns the site, refused to extend it.

Local residents in the Werkgroep Ontwikkeling Marineterrein had asked for an extension.

The state wants a free hand over the spaces it rents out on the site because of possible future developments.
