Stichting Karrewiel is holding the seventh edition of the Indische Buurt Festival on Saturday 29 August in Javastraat.
The event runs from 12:00 to 21:00 with free admission throughout the day.
A community market will host around 70 volunteer organisations from Amsterdam-Oost presenting their work.
Street market and cultural programme
The festival includes a street market with more than 30 stalls and barbecues alongside an art street and a dedicated children’s area.
Local football matches will also take place during the day for the Java Cup.
Several neighbourhood cultural organisations are taking part, including Framer Framed, Jazzfest, and the Concertgebouworkest.
Music across the afternoon
This year the Javapodium stage is collaborating with Plein Theater on the performance lineup.
Performers scheduled from midday include queer rap act Lionstorm, rave group Hondenfokker, and salsa band Orquesta Los Lamalos.
The evening programme will feature pop covers, a DJ duo playing classics, and a closing set by party band Project Soul Heaven.
