Amsterdam Centraal has taken third place in the annual European Railway Station Index by the Consumer Choice Center. The Dutch hub moved up from tenth position in 2025.
Rankings evaluate stations by passenger volume across factors like restaurant numbers, delays, waiting times, service access, accessibility, WiFi and transit connections. The report highlighted expanded retail shops and longer ticket-office hours for the improvement, naming it Europe’s top medium-sized station.
How Dutch stations fared overall
Zürich Hbf finished first in this year’s index, followed by Gare du Nord in Paris. Wrocław Główny and Bern Hbf rounded out the top five.
Two other Dutch stations reached the top 20, with Utrecht Centraal tied for 14th with Luzern Hbf, and Rotterdam Central tied for 16th with Stockholm Central. Leiden Centraal placed 25th and The Hague Central finished 26th.
Stations across the Netherlands recorded some of the fewest train delays on the continent. Among domestic hubs, Leiden Centraal recorded the best performance, followed by The Hague Central, Rotterdam Central and Utrecht Centraal.
