L’histoire du soldat, Salzburger Marionettentheater, Dominique Horwitz + Isabelle Faust
Igor Stravinsky’s L’histoire du soldat is a music theatre work based on a tale by the Swiss writer Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz. Its story follows a soldier whose encounter with the devil centres on a violin and a bargain. The work brings music together with spoken text and theatrical action, and is performed here by the Salzburger Marionettentheater with Dominique Horwitz and violinist Isabelle Faust. It offers a meeting of puppet theatre, literature and chamber music.
