Teams of makers, programmers and engineers gather to design and build robots against the clock at this hackathon organised by Tech Makers. Robotics hackathons combine hardware and software: participants wire up sensors and motors, write the code that controls them, and test ideas quickly to see what works. The format rewards teamwork and improvisation as much as technical skill, and people with different backgrounds often learn more from each other than they would alone. Amsterdam has a lively tech and maker community, and events like this are a good way to meet it. It suits experienced builders as well as curious newcomers who want to get their hands on real machines.
