Michela Giraud is a Roman comedian and actress and one of the best-known voices in Italian stand-up of recent years. Many viewers first saw her on the Italian edition of LOL: Chi ride è fuori, and her Netflix special La verità, lo giuro! brought her comedy to a much wider audience. Her material is frank and quick, drawing on family, body image, Roman life and the small absurdities of being a woman in her thirties. She has also acted on screen, which shows in her timing and physical comedy. Boom Chicago, the Amsterdam comedy theatre set up by a group of Americans in the 1990s, has a long record of bringing international comics to the city. For Italians in Amsterdam, and for anyone who follows European stand-up, it is a good chance to see her in a small room.
