Euronext Amsterdam emerged as the top market for initial public offerings in Europe during the first half of 2026, driven largely by a single massive defense sector listing.

Data compiled by advisory firm Oaklins shows that 52 listings took place across Europe in the first six months of the year, raising a total of 7.6 billion euros.

Amsterdam accounted for a major share of that volume, primarily due to the debut of Czechoslovak Group, which raised 3.8 billion euros on its own on the Damrak.

Defense firms and index rules draw international issuers

Market analysts attribute Amsterdam’s strong showing to its broad international investor base, market liquidity, and fast-track inclusion rules for stock indexes.

Companies listing in Amsterdam often qualify more quickly for small-cap or mid-cap indexes than they would on larger exchanges, which helps boost their visibility and trading volume.

The exchange has also become an attractive listing spot for international defense companies, with businesses like Czechoslovak Group, Theon International, and CZ Colt selecting the city for main or secondary listings.

More listings expected as market conditions stabilize

Overall activity on European markets is showing signs of recovery after a quieter period, supported by reduced market volatility and clearer interest rate policies.

Private equity firms looking to exit investments are also pushing more companies toward public listings.

Advisors expect additional listings in the second half of the year and into 2027, with companies in the technology, media, telecommunications, and industrial sectors currently preparing potential floats in Amsterdam.
