National Ballet public class sells out immediately

Het Nationale Ballet has fully booked a free public dance class on the main stage of the Stopera on the first working day after it was announced.

The company’s dancers begin every working day with a class to maintain their physical condition. The public session will take place in one of the largest auditoriums in the country.

Opening the doors

The event is an initiative by the newly appointed ballet director Ernst Meisner, who aims to widen access to the company. Het Nationale Ballet had long held a reputation for catering primarily to a select, separate audience.

Meisner stated that Het Nationale Ballet belongs to everyone, adding that he wants as many people as possible to enjoy it, whether they purchase a performance ticket or not.
