Zacht Beton, a free interactive play exhibition for children aged 2 to 7, is coming to De Wollen Gymzaal, a former gym in Tweede Oosterparkstraat, for three days.
Children can post letters, stick on stamps and answer phone calls in a mini post office, or try a typewriter and an old-fashioned coffee grinder.
There is also a light-discovery area and spaces for washing, folding, ironing and working with tools.
Parents stay with their children, who are encouraged to touch, try things out and decide for themselves how to play, with no set route to follow.
Old objects invite hands-on play
The makers have given familiar household items a second life, including some that may seem exotic to children raised on tablets and touchscreens.
The aim is to spark curiosity and imagination, and parents may recognise appliances from their own childhood or their grandparents’ homes.
Zacht Beton is open from 14:00 to 17:00 on Tuesday 13 October and from 10:00 to 13:00 on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October.
Entry is free and no registration is needed. TalentenTent co-organises the exhibition at Tweede Oosterparkstraat 227.
