A warm air mass moving across the Netherlands is expected to bring high summer temperatures to Amsterdam and much of the country this week.
While the start of the week remains relatively mild, conditions will warm up significantly by Tuesday as sunshine clears away lingering cloud cover.
By Wednesday, afternoon temperatures in the capital could easily surpass 30°C, while inland and southern regions may see highs reaching between 34°C and 36°C.
Midweek heat and high UV
Light winds and clear skies will dominate through the middle of the week, though a coastal sea breeze might offer brief relief along the western shorelines in the late afternoon.
Forecasters at Weeronline have warned that the UV index will reach level 6 between midday and 3:00 p.m., meaning unprotected skin can burn within 15 to 25 minutes.
The city’s public health services typically advise residents to drink plenty of water, stay in the shade during peak hours, and check in on vulnerable neighbors during warm spells.
Uncertainty around the weekend
Thursday’s outlook remains somewhat uncertain, depending on how quickly a westerly wind moves in from the North Sea.
If the wind shifts early, coastal regions will see temperatures drop back down to around 25°C, though late shifts could keep Amsterdam above 30°C for another day.
By Friday and into the weekend, cooler air from the north is expected to bring temperatures down closer to seasonal averages of around 24°C along the coast, with a slight chance of light showers.
