Dutch retail group Ahold Delhaize recorded continued growth in its online business during the second quarter of 2026, driven primarily by home delivery and store pickup services.

Digital consumer sales went up by 8.1 percent at constant exchange rates compared to the same period last year.

Excluding its e-commerce platform bol, the online sales across its grocery brands grew by 14.3 percent. That platform recently adjusted some of its seller conditions after negotiations with market regulators.

Steady group revenue

Digital purchases across the group reached over 3.2 billion euros for the quarter.

Total net sales across all divisions remained largely flat at 23.1 billion euros, though underlying comparable sales rose by 2.3 percent.

The company recorded an underlying operating profit of 917 million euros, maintaining an operating margin of 4.0 percent, while net income climbed to 548 million euros.

Focus on price and delivery

Chief executive Frans Muller described the performance as resilient within a competitive retail landscape.

He noted that Ahold Delhaize intends to keep investing in competitive pricing, digital tools, and physical store upgrades to retain shoppers.

The group, which operates local supermarket chain Albert Heijn alongside major brands in the United States and Europe, also reconfirmed its financial outlook for the full year 2026.
