Healthy takeaway in Amsterdam does not have to cost a restaurant dinner.

Ask Amsterdammers where they pick up a proper meal after work, and more than 25 places come up that do fresh, filling food for around €10.

For a proper meal under €10 that you can pick up on the way home, start with Couvert in Zuid, HapHap on the Hoofddorpweg, or your local Indonesian toko. For a whole week of lunches in one go, Mensa Mensa’s meal prep Monday is the best deal on this list.

Every place below that has its own website was checked against it in October 2026.

Prices change, so treat the ones here as a guide.

You can also browse all of them in our directory of healthy and affordable takeaway in Amsterdam.

Quick picks:

  • Best under €10: Couvert, with meals at €8.95
  • Best daily dish: HapHap, one fresh dish a day for €8.99
  • Best for meal prep: Mensa Mensa, three meals for €10 on Mondays
  • Best value overall: an Indonesian toko, where one box often stretches to two meals
  • Best for vegans: Spirit, an organic vegetarian buffet by the Czaar Peterstraat

1) Couvert

Couvert sells fresh ready meals from Rijnstraat 17h in the Rivierenbuurt, at €8.95 each.

People who use it regularly say the portions are big.

2) HapHap

HapHap on the Hoofddorpweg cooks one healthy dish a day and sells it for €8.99.

Pick-up runs from Sunday to Friday, 17:00 to 20:30, which makes it an easy stop after work.

HapHap also appears on Too Good To Go, where an earlier pick-up can get you two servings for the same price.

3) Mensa Mensa

Mensa Mensa in Zuidoost runs a meal prep session every Monday from 9:30 to 12:30.

For €10 you cook alongside the team and go home with three meals.

Regulars praise the people as much as the food, and there is no fixed menu, so the flavours change from week to week.

4) Indonesian tokos

The most common tip is simple: find a good Indonesian toko near you.

You build your own box from rice or noodles, vegetables and spiced meat, and a mealbox costs roughly €12 to €14, often enough for two meals.

Toko Kok Kita on the Amstelveenseweg is a local favourite, at around €10 for meat and two vegetables.

In Oost, Ed’s Catering has been doing Indonesian dishes for 40 years.

5) Surinamese and roti

Surinamese food is filling, cheap and travels well.

Warung Redjo at Hoofdweg 137 does Javanese and Surinamese dishes to take away.

Roopram Roti has shops in the Dapperbuurt and the Oude Pijp, and Tokoman sells Surinamese sandwiches on the Zeedijk, Waterlooplein, Haarlemmerstraat and De Flinesstraat.

In Oud-West, ‘t Saotohuisje near the Kinkerstraat is the place for a big bowl of saoto soup and roti.

6) Bowls, salads and wraps

Sushito does poke bowls and sushi burritos in West, De Pijp, Oost, Nieuw-West and the Zuidas, and its lunch deal easily stretches over more than one meal.

Mima serves fresh Mediterranean bowls, wraps and juices in West, De Pijp and the Zuidas.

SLA has organic salads and bowls across the city, and its kids’ portion costs under €10 and still fills you up.

Greenday on the Ceintuurbaan and at Centraal, BACK! in De Pijp, the Zuidas, West and Oostenburg, and Oliver Green in Zuid all do healthy bowls to go.

7) Vegan and vegetarian

Spirit at Czaar Peterstraat 2a is a fully organic vegetarian buffet where you serve yourself.

It is not the cheapest place here, but it is many people’s go-to for fresh, varied food.

8) Thai, Indian and Chinese

Rakang on the Elandsgracht has a separate takeaway counter next to the restaurant, open daily from 17:00 to 22:00, with its prices on the board.

Da Food Factory cooks restaurant-quality Indian food from the Bonairestraat for delivery and pick-up on weekdays, with a menu that changes every week.

For Chinese, a neighbourhood restaurant’s maandmenu can feed you for several dinners.

Hap Li is a favourite.

9) Butchers, markets and street food

Vincent Traiteur & Slagerij at Wibautstraat 41 is an old-school butcher with sandwiches and daily packed meals.

At the Ten Katemarkt, the Tyros Lebanese food truck sells fresh chicken and halloumi wraps, and the market’s sandwiches and wraps cost around €7.

Salsa Shop has nine burrito shops in Amsterdam, Maoz is the classic for a quick falafel, and Dönerland Eethuis on the Kinkerstraat is a cheap, filling standby.

For brunch rather than dinner, Dignita in the Hortus area is worth a visit too.

10) Meals delivered weekly

MarleenKookt delivers fresh homemade meals every week on a subscription.

It is a good fit for weeks when cooking is off the table, such as recovering from surgery.

How to pay less for takeaway

Order directly from the restaurant, by its own website, phone or WhatsApp, rather than through a delivery platform.

Restaurants give up a large share to the platforms, and ordering direct is often cheaper or comes with an extra.

If you do use an app, set it to pick-up to skip the delivery fee while keeping deals such as 1+1.

Cook your own rice and buy only the curry or stir-fry, which easily turns one meal into two.

Supermarkets such as Ekoplaza, Odin and Jumbo also have ready meals with plenty of vegetables for less than most takeaways.
