Leaving Amsterdam for good involves more admin than most people expect.
This is the practical order of operations, not a packing list.
Deregister with the gemeente

Set it up before your last day at the address, since forwarding cannot retroactively catch mail that was already returned to sender.
It will not catch every sender who has your old details, so update banks, subscriptions and government bodies directly wherever you can.
Sort out a car, if you have one
A Dutch-registered car cannot simply be driven across the border and left registered here.
If you are taking it with you, its Dutch registration needs to be cancelled at the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority, before departure, using your ID and the vehicle’s registration documents.
If you are not taking the car, selling it locally is usually simpler than exporting it.
Offload what you’re not taking
Most people leaving Amsterdam end up with furniture, bikes and household goods they cannot or do not want to ship.
