A new chapter for cricket in the region begins this summer as the schedule for the inaugural European T20 Premier League has been officially announced.
The six-team franchise tournament runs from August 26 to September 20, with matches hosted across venues in the Netherlands and Ireland.
Opening fixture set for The Hague
The local franchise Amsterdam Flames will feature in the tournament’s opening fixture against the Rotterdam Dockers on August 26.
That inaugural match will take place at the Voorburg Cricket Club near The Hague before the competition moves overseas.
Tournament structure and international talent
Following the opening fixture in the Netherlands, the remainder of the league stage and the final will be played at the Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin.
The competition involves six regional teams playing a round-robin format, where each franchise faces the others twice over 32 total matches.
The top team automatically advances to the final, while the second and third-placed teams meet in a single playoff match to determine the second finalist.
Former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh co-owns the Amsterdam franchise, which features a mix of international players alongside national team players from the Royal Dutch Cricket Association.
Other regional teams competing in the new league include the Dublin Guardians, Belfast Wolves, and Glasgow Cosmic.
