Two lifelong friends from England are attempting to skateboard 500 kilometres from central London to Amsterdam to raise money for charity.
Charlie Hutchings-Sait and Dan Lee set off on Friday and passed through Kent, northern France, and Ostend in Belgium by Tuesday afternoon.
Their route takes about 10 days, with the pair camping along the way under their challenge called Pushing for Purpose.
Covering thirty miles a day
Both aged 30, the friends have known each other since age two and now run a marine components manufacturing business in Hampshire.
They aim to cover 30 to 35 miles each day to reach Amsterdam by the weekend.
The effort has raised nearly £2,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society, Macmillan Cancer Support, and the road safety charity Brake.
Smooth paths after tough terrain
Both have been skateboarding since they were eight, but Hutchings-Sait noted that their bodies are aching after days of constant pushing.
He likened the daily distance to running more than a marathon, though both noted that flat cycle paths in France and Belgium proved smoother than rough terrain in Kent.
