A new hospitality venue has opened in the Westerpark neighborhood, taking over the former district office at the Westergas complex.
Stadscafé is the latest project from Maarten de Vries, Jamie van der Will, Ischa van Bemmelen, and chef Jef van den Hout, the team behind local establishments including De Willem and Roest.
A historic venue in Westerpark
The space was previously occupied by Bar Kantoor inside the Conscious Hotel.
The group won the pitch to develop the new concept in partnership with Michel Huisman, the founder of the brunch chain Teds.
The opening marks another step in the expansion for De Vries and Van der Will, who originally launched their hospitality careers with nightlife venues Kopstootbar and De Tulp.
All-day layout and dining
Designed by Antwerp-based Gestalt Architecten, the expansive interior has been divided into distinct zones to serve guests throughout the day and evening.
The layout features a central walk-around bar, a communal reading table, and a dedicated dining area separated by high shelving units.
The venue opens at 7:00 AM to cater to early morning visitors and hotel guests, offering everything from morning coffee and remote work tables to full dinner service past midnight.
The kitchen menu offers shared plates and classic dishes, led by chef Jef van den Hout across all three of the group’s current locations.
