Stadsdeel West is looking for an operator to run a temporary hospitality venue on Het Stenen Hoofd. The site was previously home to beach bar Niemandsland since 2024, following earlier venues Paaseiland and Brandend Zand.
Entrepreneurs can register their interest starting Wednesday, 16 September. The location on the former pier is re-tendered every few years.
Preserving the open character
Het Stenen Hoofd is used by local residents from Zeeheldenbuurt and Westerdoksdijk for walking dogs and getting fresh air, as well as for small-scale cultural events. The borough council wants to preserve this open character, and applicants must fit that profile.
A selection committee will pick the top five proposals, who will then present their plans before a final winner is chosen. The panel includes local hospitality business owners, city representatives, and a member of Stichting Het Stenen Hoofd.
Three summer seasons
The selected operator will run the venue starting 1 April 2027 for three summer seasons, which run until 30 September each year. The contract can be extended for an additional two seasons.
